I often find myself gravitating toward achieving a signature look- as it pertains to the way I style my hair and makeup. Whether it be soft waves and a glossy pink lip, or a low, slicked pony and strong contour, I find comfort in uniformed repetition. This is what I’ve been loving lately…
Softer eyebrows: I try not to over-exaggerate my pencil application, and instead prefer to focus on working with what IS there. I usually like to focus on the combing as opposed to the filling in. Products I’m loving: COVERGIRL Easy Breezy Micro-fine Eyebrow Fill + Define Eyebrow Pencil and e.l.f. Clear Brow & Lash Mascara.
Softer lashes: To achieve this, I make sure to brush back and forth (sideways) as opposed to upwards, when applying mascara. An out-of-character move for me has been my obsession with leaving the bottom lashes to catch some product from simply batting my top lashes. I usually like to go for a Twiggy-esque sort of eye drama, but find that sometimes less is more.
Product I’m loving: COVERGIRL Lash Blast Volume Mascara (in the waterproof formula, of course.)
Matte face, subtle cheekbone glow: I’ve become somewhat against the idea of leaving home powder-less, since my skin has developed somewhat of an aversion to the “dewy” trend. With that being said, I like to set my entire face with a finishing spray, lightly sweep powder under the eyes, along the forehead, nose, upper lip and chin areas, then bake beneath the cheekbones and along the jawline before applying blush. I then sweep it off again, apply a light amount of highlighter along my cheekbones and spray again.
Raspberry lips: Intense color with a soft appearance is everything. Swipe, dab-dab-dab, swipe, dab-dab-dab. I like to add a touch of gloss at the end too.
Barely-there smokey eye: I find that working with a lighter pairing of shadows compliments the eyes as well as your go-to night look, without looking day-heavy.
Product I’m loving: Urban Decay Naked Basics Eyeshadow Palette (working with three of the first five colors, in rotation).
BLUSH!!! I’ve become a hugeeeeeeeeee blush girl. I love the life it brings to my uber pale skin, and how instantly awake I can look with an upward stroke of my designated brush. Instead of adding a contour layer beforehand, I’ve become addicted to just tapping the two right colors on my palette to create a pretty and intense rorange to compliment my go to lip.
Product I’m loving: e.l.f. Powder Blush Palette.
A classic, healthy-“do.”
Wash, Condition, Repeat: I keep it pretty simple when it comes to styling my hair. The shampoo and conditioner combo I’ve been using belong to the Herbal Essences Hello Hydration collection. The creamy coconut formula is paraben, gluten and mineral-oil free and leaves your strands refreshed and super soft. This is the perfect prep for an intense blow-drying session. When my hair needs a little more love, I like to use a spritz or two of the Pravana Nevo Intense Therapy Leave-In Conditioner.
Speaking of blow dryers: the Revlon Essentials Volume Booster RVDR5036 1875W IONIC TECHNOLOGY® in Teal knocks the ball out of the park, for my thick and fussy hair. It contains negative ions that battle frizz and create volume while keeping your hair smooth.
Curve, don’t straighten: Clipping half of your hair up is the easiest way to ensure you’re not missing a strand. With my ForStyler Fuchsia (Pink) Ombre Hair Styling Iron, I like to curve my longer layers outward and shorter layers inward. For the front strands, I tend to straighten in front of me, rather than to each side, because it creates a shape that frames the face flatteringly.
What’s your beauty routine like? 🙂
