MOMA & Chill

Reconnecting with the past is a friendly reminder that life has, in fact, moved forward.

After having a brief heart-to-heart on the phone, an old friend of mine decided he’d come to visit me Monday. It worked out to be perfect because we both had the day off from work/classes.

As like-minded individuals, we both had museums on the mind. I wound up leading us to the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), home to works of artists Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol and several more. One piece that I was particularly excited to see was Van Gogh’s famous 1889 “Starry Night.” A major tip: Students of SUNY schools can check the exhibits out for free!

We spent a majority of our time on foot, where we caught up over yummy smoothies until reaching our initial destination. After the MOMA, it was my iced americano and his (hot) chai latte.

Apparently my leadership was a bit unreliable when navigating the actual exhibits (I tend to get lost), so it was crucial that I redeem myself by finding the perfect little place for chopped salads. Of course I did just that, for my health-fanatic of a friend. I highly recommend the Sweet Green on 38th street and Broadway! They had some super delicious selections, as well as the freedom to create your own bowl.

The remainder of the night was filled with guessing what John Mayer song played on Pandora Radio, and trekking to the grocery store (and back) in the rain. Luckily for him, he was given the next day off, due to a crazy amount of snow on Long Island…To my dismay, I was not given the same. Since living in Manhattan, snow has refused to stick to the ground! I guess I’ll just have to hope that it does happen before Spring really comes around.
